Thomas J. Hillgardner has been described as an “unemployed political consultant,” “gadfly,” and “self-appointed community activist” while actually he is a New York litigation attorney practicing in the areas of New York Landlord/Tenant Law, Family Law, Election Law, New Media Law, First Amendment, Police Misconduct, and Intellectual Property.

He graduated with a Juris Doctor from Touro Law School in 1992, with a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York @ Stony Brook in 1982, and is an alumnus of Jamaica High School (Class of ’76).

He is socially and politically active in the area of drug law reform and media law reform, and ran for Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York appearing on the statewide ballot in 2002 as the candidate of the Marijuana Reform Part
