      GROWING WITH GRACE

(African Americans on the Move –CATV)

For over thirty years, Grace L. Jones has been informing New Yorkers  about important events with a special eye on African American “movers and shakers”, through her production company A TOUCH OF GRACE & ASSOCIATES, which produces her cable television program.

A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, reared in Harlem, Grace is a product of the New York Public School system and she continued her education at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus.

For over sixty years has indulged her passion for the performing arts.  In 1964 she co-founded The DOUBLE IMAGE THEATRE, a professional training school and theatre production company.

Grace Jones has been a longtime member and supporter of AUDELCO, (Audience Development Committee, Inc.), which was founded by the late Vivian Robinson to help promote excellence in Black Theatre. Grace now holds the position of President of the Board of Directors.  She is also on the AUDELCO Awards Nominating Committee “The VIV,” critiquing over 150 Black theatre productions annually.

Grace L. Jones is a proud member of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, pastured by Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III.  Having grown up in the church, Grace thanks God for her spiritual growth and community activism learned under the tutelage of the late great Rev. Dr. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.

Her political experiences include CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR COMMUNITY ACTION, Inc.  As a co-founder in 1984, Grace lobbied to combat issues of crime and drugs and secure affordable housing and rights for seniors in neighborhoods from 59th Street to 110th, Central Park West to Riverside Drive.

She has received numerous awards as a community and political activist.  She is a member of“Significant Elders-Senior Moment Social: Harlem History and Hearsay” under the leadership of

Rev. Malika Lee Whitney. A member of The Black Public Relations Society of Greater New York (BPRS), The National Council of Negro Women (Manhattan Chapter) She is also a Consultant to The Harlem Inter-Agency Counsel for the Aging.

Grace and her husband Everton recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a renewal of marital vows.  Grace lives on Manhattan’s Upper Westside.  The proud parents of  three children, Adrienne Rodell, Anthony “Tony” and Leslie. Anthony and wife Sheila blessed them to become grandparents of Zachary and Aleah, (the apples of grandma’s eye).   Leslie “Bambi” Jones is a world traveled singer-actress.  Grace is a “bridge over troubled waters” to a multitude of young and old who seek her advice and encouragement.
